Bart especially likes working in rural communities with farmers and local and regional organisations. He has worked on water and irrigation management and policy with The National Water Commission, CSIRO and the Western Australia Department of Water. Water pricing, market mechanisms for releasing water, water planning, environmental flows, Indigenous access to water and resilience are some of the areas in which Bart has worked.

Bart is a member of Irrigation Australia and the Australian Water Association. He has a Ph.D. in irrigation in water management policy from The University of Melbourne, a Graduate Certificate in Hydrology and Water Resources from The University of South Australia, and an honours degree in environmental management from The University of Queensland.
